What is Fascia and how does it affect my skin?

What is fascia?

Fascia is a thin, fibrous connective tissue that surrounds every part of your body.

It provides form and function providing your body with strength and stability.

Fascia is like your bodies "gift wrap" that holds everything together.

Fascia is more than just connective tissue; it holds emotions, patterns, and memories in the body.

Fascia affects

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
    • tight or damaged fascia exaggerates wrinkles.
  • Skin appearance
    • damaged fascia contributes to sagging skin.
  • Lymphatic circulation
    • stuck fascia means poor lymphatic circulation and dull skin

How does your fascia become damaged?

Trauma and emotions you experience directly affect your fascia health. You overcome these emotions in your mind, but your body does not forget.

When you experience these strong emotions or trauma your body tenses making your fascia contract and stiffen.

Your fascia holds tension, emotions, patterns, and even memories. Making your skin appear tight or stuck.

Signs of damaged fascia:

  • Stiffness or tension
  • Sagging skin
  • Puffiness
  • Dehydration
  • Constant fatigue

Damaged fascia is one of the major contributing factors of fine lines, winkles, and sagging skin. Constant tension tightens your muscles over time, reinforcing expression lines and deeping fine lines and wrinkles.

how can I repair my fascia?

Here at MyRainberry we understand the importance of fascia repair. We understand the importance of healthy fascia and want to help you, and your fascia, feel your best.

We do deep myofascial release and massage. Myofascial release is sculpting. It breaks up adhesions, improves blood flow, and releases tension in your fascia.

What can I do at home?

Home care is just as important as the treatments we do here at MyRainberry. When these are done in tandem the results are beautiful!

Staying hydrated!

  • Drinking water is extremely important for your fascia health. Staying hydrated allows your fascia to maintain its ability to slide and glide smoothly without friction.
  • Staying hydrated also preserves your skin's elasticity and prevent adhesions and wrinkles.

Stretching and Movement

  • Stretching helps your fascia stay flexible and able to move easily. It softens the fascia and releases adhesions.

Manual Massage

  • Massage helps to release tension and provide stretch.
  • You can do this by using your knuckles or a Gua Sha tool to gently glide over tight areas.
